PRISM – People’s Recovery Initiative for Solutions & More

Forging Connections | Sharing Resources | Saving Lives

The People’s Recovery Summit

Harm Reduction and Pathways to Wellness

A real-time gathering of the people, by the people, and for the people. We welcome professionals, families, and loved ones, people from all pathways of recovery, wellness, and harm reduction, people who use drugs, and all allies alike!

PRISM (People’s Recovery Initiative for Solutions & More) is an organization dedicated to raising awareness, educating, and smashing the stigma surrounding substance use and addiction. We partner with and connect a number of fantastic groups who share our mission and vision and represent different spheres of influence. We also connect with everyday people through several series of events that put things in clear language and allow experts and those who have faced addiction to share their lived experiences. Our goal is to make resources available to anyone facing substance use or addiction and to save lives.

Meet Marilyn Shannon

Those of you who have been involved with the People’s Opioid Summit are likely familiar with our master of ceremonies and breakout facilitator, Marilyn Shannon. You may not be aware of the fact that PRISM and the Summit is Marilyn’s brainchild.

Marilyn has many talents. She is a speaker, journalist, coach, and author. While writing her latest book, “In Just One Afternoon.. Listening into the Hearts of People Impacted by Opioid Addiction“, Marilyn found herself having deep and meaningful conversations both with people who were living with Opioid Use Disorder, or the family members of people who had lost their battles with addiction.

One of Marilyn’s greatest passions is eliminating stigma and creating pathways for open communication and understanding. Upon giving it much thought and consideration, she realized that she needed to assemble a team to put together an innovative, inspiring, and informational event for anyone affected by the Opioid Epidemic. She partnered with her coaching home, the American Institute of Healthcare & Fitness, and her longtime marketing company, Media Integrations to bring this vision to life.

In her role as an #ExpertListener and #StigmaSmasher, Marilyn works tirelessly to help people better connect with one another. She truly believes that if we collectively work at loving people instead of judging them, the world will be a better place.
